Are You a Freelancer or Small Business Owner Seeking Practical Payment Solutions? Lets look into Teams.

If you’re a freelancer or small business owner offering services online, finding a reliable, fast, and simple way to receive payments is essential. Many payment platforms are available, but constantly switching between different apps and websites can become tedious and interrupt your workflow.

Microsoft has now introduced a solution to streamline the payment process: the Teams Payments app. This tool allows you to request and receive payments seamlessly during Microsoft Teams meetings. Currently available in the U.S. and Canada, this feature is provided at no extra cost for Microsoft 365 Business and Teams Essentials subscribers.

How Does the Teams Payments App Work?

The Teams Payments app is straightforward to set up and use. To start:

  1. Download the Teams Payments app from the Microsoft App Store.
  2. Integrate the app with your Teams account.
  3. Connect it to your preferred payment processor, choosing from popular options like:
    • Stripe
    • PayPal
    • GoDaddy

Once the app is connected, you can begin requesting payments directly within your Teams meetings.

Initiating a Payment Request

To request a payment during a meeting:

  1. Open the meeting chat and click on the Payments icon in the messaging extension.
  2. Complete the form, entering the payment amount, currency, description, and recipient(s).
  3. Send the request to one or multiple individuals as needed.

A status card will appear, visible to all meeting participants, displaying whether each payment is pending or has been completed.

Clients will see the payment request card in the chat. By clicking the Pay Now button, they’ll be directed to your connected payment platform to complete their transaction. Upon successful payment, both you and the customer will receive a confirmation.
